Alev Seymen

Raised on the Aegean coast of Türkiye, Alev grew up playing hide-and-seek in the Ancient ruins of Pergamon. But it was later in 7th grade, upon reading a novel with an architect heroine, she decided to pursue this career.

After completing her Architectural Studies at University of Washington, she worked in Istanbul and in Seattle on various types of projects from art installations, restaurants, malls, to corporate TI’s, and schools… Finally, she discovered her passion for residential design, which encompasses the most intimate and personal moments of our lives. Since 2006, she has focused on design of custom residential homes. She gained valuable experience on challenging sites and programs, working with contractors and artisans, and helping owners understand and contribute to the design and construction process.

She loves to travel, not only because she’s fascinated with how each culture has defined their built environment, but also because she loves trying different foods. In fact, during her 3-month-long study abroad in Rome, she made a point to eat gelato every day!

Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Luxe Magazine, Maison Française, Seattle Times and many other regional publications.

Esma Baskurt

Meet Esma, a passionate architectural designer with a unique multicultural background that influences her professional journey. Raised in Türkiye and Canada, Esma’s upbringing exposed her to diverse cultural perspectives and aesthetics, shaping her approach to design.

Esma’s architectural journey began at Carleton University in Ontario, where she embarked on her studies. However, her thirst for diverse education and exposure to different design philosophies led her to complete her degree in Istanbul, Türkiye. This cross-continental experience allowed her to embrace the best of both worlds and incorporate a global perspective into her work.

Throughout her career, Esma has been involved in a wide range of projects, spanning from residential to multi-family homes and hotels. However, Esma developed a deep appreciation for residential design and the profound impact it has on people's everyday lives. She was captivated by the idea that living spaces have the power to enhance or hinder the way individuals experience and navigate their daily routines.

With her multicultural background acting as a constant source of inspiration, Esma aims to push the boundaries of residential design. She aspires to leave a lasting impact on the lives of individuals, making their world a more beautiful and comfortable place to call home.
